Academic Journey
Right after high school, I attended Missouri Western State University to play football and pursue a degree in computer science. Although I was excited for this opportunity, my experience quickly became challenging due to multiple injuries, including a torn labrum, which changed both my athletic and academic outlook. I also felt disconnected from the environment and geography surrounding the school; let’s just say it wasn’t like Fort Collins, Colorado. While studying computer science, I realized that I had little interest in the work I was doing and began to question the path I was going down. Eventually, I transferred back home to Colorado State University looking for a fresh start and a new direction. I initially entered the construction management program without fully knowing what to expect, but after some time, I realized that it wasn’t the right fit for me either. This process of exploration ultimately led me to interdisciplinary studies, where I found the freedom to use multiple interests of mine and put them together. I later decided to double major in interdisciplinary studies and English, fields that allowed me to show my strengths, curiosity, and personal growth.
